This gave me full access to the registry. You should definitely be careful with this sort of access.

1. Move PsExec.exe into a folder called PSTools. Locate it under C:\, so it should be C:\PSTools.
2. Create a new text file called "PsExec.bat"
3. Open the file in Notepad, and enter the following information, and save it:

C:\PSTools\psexec.exe -i -d -s c:\windows\regedit.exe
pause

4. Close Notepad, then right click on the new Batch file, and click "Run as Administrator". 
It will open a special REGEDIT program for use.

We suspect our <Unknown Contact> entry is either due to a deleted user account when rebuilding our system after a drive failure or due to the fact these folders were restored from a backup under Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) that included some previously shared folders.  Regardless, the steps you provided did not remove, or allow us to remove, the <Unknown Contact> entry from the list.

We eventually resolved the problem by taking ownership of the whole drive while making sure that we had checked the option to 'Replace owner on subcontainers and objects'.  We had already taken ownership once, but neglected to check the option to replace ownership on subcontainers and, as a result, still had the problem.

RIVA TURBO X BLUETOOTH CONNECTION PROBLEMS
I tried everything I could think of - rebooting computer and Riva, uninstalling bluetooth driver, reinstalling, updating Bluetooth from computer
manufacturer...and finally found this after RIVA began bluetooth connection with very poor sound quality:
When 8.1 computer connects, right click the speaker icon near clock, playback devices, scroll down and you see the RIVA connects as
a telephone with very poor sound quality. Click the hands-free device, properties, advanced and you see the very low telephone quality
frequency response.
Pick the RIVA TURBO X STEREO as default device, and the sound immediately becomes high fidelity. Click properties, Advanced and
you can see the connection frequency response. While in the properties, you can see that you can change the Name of the Device, and
change the icon from headphones to a speaker icon. Also, choose the Riva Turbo X Stereo as the DEFAULT device!

Then I tried to remove unused Bluetooth devices in windows settings, but they wouldnt allow to be deleted.
To remove unused Bluetooth devices that will not remove in bluetooth Settings:
Click on Start, Right-click on Computer or This PC, and select Properties.
Click on Advanced system settings from the left-side panel.
Click on Environment Variables button.
Now under the User variables for box, click on New. And enter:
devmgr_show_nonpresent_device
in the Variable Name field. Enter:

Click Device Manager and select View > Show hidden devices, all the ghosted devices will be shown with their icons faded away.
In Device Manager, click UNINSTALL to delete all the ghost entries...do every one that shows greyed out (ghosted).

Download just this program PSExec which is part of Windows Sysinternals PsTools - get just the small program here:

Then this is the command to run in an elevated cmd prompt...I used:
psexec -s -i regedit
This is a very powerful program that allows you to edit the registry from the System Account which is way above the Admiinistrator.
(It can also be very dangerous as well)

Many, many times in the past I have struggled with difficult registry keys and spent hours trying to find ways to edit or delete them.

I ran it from the elevated cmd prompt and it never failed when I deleted bad keys. Just be certain the file psexec is in the proper path...I put it in C:/

Significant delay from when the letters are typed to when they appear on the screen

IE with Outlook - When typing a new email in Outlook, or replying to an email,
in html format there is a significant delay from when the letters are typed to when they appear on the screen
This problem is caused by a "protective" protocol that I do not support or recommend, that is, loading down the registry
by adding a slew of sites to IE's Restricted Sites zone - sometimes tens of thousands of URLs.
Products that "protect" you by loading down the registry in such a way include Spybot, IE-Spyad and Spyware Blaster.

IE7 has made changes to the way that the rendering engine interacts with the Restricted Sites zone -
the end result is that if you are using Outlook (not 2007), have IE7 installed and use HTML as your email format,
then when you type an email the IE rendering engine will check the registry for entries in
IE's Restricted Sites zone **every time you type a character***.

FIXES:
Remove all of those entries in the Restricted Sites Zone - 
use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings Tool
(Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab)

The bad files will be in this directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR COMPUTER USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media\10.0
and/or
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR COMPUTER USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media\11.0

You will see the bogus file perhaps like this:
 WMSDKNSD.XML.(2005.08.09 21.47.18)
 THE FILE NAME NUMBERS ARE ACTUALLY THE DATE & TIME INFECTED
And you will have other valid files that will be recreated by Media Player so:
 JUST DELETE ALL THE FILES IN EACH DIRECTORY
AND bingo the player works!!!
